Tata Nano to produce 80,000 units by March 2010


The first units of Tata Nano will roll from Tata Pantnagar facility in late February this year. While the engines and gearboxes for the Nano will be built at the Tata plant in Pune, the final assembly will take place in the transmission plant to Pantnagar.

80,000 units between April 2009 and March 2010

Tata believes that the idea of production Pantnagar only a temporary solution as the main plant nano Sananda, Gujarat, is still under construction. Pantnagar plant of Tata Motors will be able to produce only very few units of the nano - around March Car 6-7000 purpose. However, Tata claims that the pantnagar facility is capable of producing up to 80,000 units in April 2009 between the nano and March 2010.

Sananda plant expected to be ready by mid-2010

The mother plant in Sananda Tata Nano is expected to be ready only by mid-2010. Once it begins production, the company aims to produce 150,000 units of the nano in the first year. The company will make an investment of Rs 2246 crore in the first phase of Nano car project in Gujarat, while the travel and relocation will cost an additional Rs 650 crore. Sananda while the plant is the main manufacturing plant for the Nano, the Pantnagar facility will bring together more volumes small car based on demand.

Diesel at the end of 2011 nano -

The nano will be powered by a 625cc, 33Bhp 2-cylinder gasoline engine. The base nano - without air conditioning or any other luxury accoutrements - is expected to cost around Rs 1.20 lakh on the road, including registration and insurance costs. The company has plans to launch a diesel version of the end of 2011, which will be more expensive and the same goes for the variants with a nano AC, automatic gearbox and other luxuries.
